Putting the "Happily" Back in "Ever After"
with Jeff and Shaunti Feldhahn
authors of For Women Only and For Men Only
Saturday, November 13, 2010
9 am to 4:00 pm
Calvary Christian Church, Lynnfield, MA
Every couple that walks down the aisle expects to be married "happily ever after." But for many, the "happily" slowly flutters away and all they are left with is "ever after." This one-day Saturday conference will feature guest speakers Jeff and Shaunti Feldhahn, authors of For Women Only and For Men Only. Come spend a day learning more about how God's design actually is good. As we understand and live His design, we will be able to experience more fully the "happily" we expected and long for in marriage.
Earlybird ticket pricing (through October 1, 2010): $40 for single tickets and $70 for couples' tickets. Price includes lunch and all materials.
Friday night option: Can't come for Saturday's event or want to add to your weekend experience? Take advantage of a Friday evening stand-alone event, 7:30-9:30 pm, with Danny Oertli singing and the Feldhahns speaking (see ticket prices here).
Why not make it into a getaway weekend for you and your spouse? The Peabody Marriott Hotel is offering a special rate for conference guests of $89 per night on Friday, November 12, and/or Saturday, November 13. Click here for online reservations or call their reservations hotline at 800-228-9290 and ask for the Home Improvement Ministries room block (the group code is "HIMHIMA").

In a world that is less than "sacred," we as parents are often at a loss on how to raise kids who honor God, their parents and others. We're looking for easy steps to "new kids" when we may do better to look first at our own lives. Gary Thomas, author of Sacred Marriage and Sacred Parenting, helps us understand "How Raising Children Shapes Our Souls." In addition to Gary Thomas' three plenary sessions, practical workshops will round out this incredibly important day.

Keeping Up with Paul and Virginia
|
The biggest news in Paul and Virginia's life has been the safe and glorious arrival of their first grandchild--on Paul's 60th birthday! Gabe and Kari Garcia welcomed Brandon Michael Garcia on August 29, who weighed in at 8 lbs 15 oz, 21 1/2 in long. Everyone is doing just fine. You can read the full story (and see lots of photos) on Virginia's blog -- or friend her on Facebook!
But backing up a bit: since our last issue of the Family Flyer eNews this past May, the Friesens wound up their spring with a number of speaking events plus a couple of traditional year-end H.I.M. activities--the Memorial Day Camping Trip and the ever popular June pool party at Doug and Julie Macrae's home. Following that, Virginia and daughter Lisa ran the Covered Bridges half-marathon in Woodstock, Vermont, then left for a trip to London to celebrate Lisa's successful completion of her Masters degree. It was a great trip, and Virginia wrote concerning all the ways God blessed them, "you have two women who feel very, very personally loved by our gracious heavenly Father."
Paul and Virginia then plunged into ten very intensive weeks of focusing on family camps, with a week of staff training in California, six weeks of camp, a week of preparation and travel back for the east coast family camps, and then two very full weeks of family camp at Camp Berea in NH. They poured themselves into each family, and have many stories to tell of how God met them.
After flying to California and spending a week or two in Sacramento to help welcome their precious grandson, they are back in New England, fully engaged in their fall counseling schedule, the annual weekly meetings with Patriot wives (on Wednesday mornings with Virginia) and Patriot couples (Thursday evenings), and today are en route to Montreal for a marriage conference sponsored by the Armenian Evangelical Church.
As you've hopefully read already, there is an exciting line-up of new H.I.M. events now open for registration, and we enthusiastically await yours! Please join us as, together, we explore God's design for families who long to serve and honor Him. Thanks for your support in prayer, friendship, attendance, and affirmation. We couldn't do it without you!
Gratefully,
Barbara Steele
